Green and Black. (Nope, not the chocolate …) The colour of NORI ROLLS , obvss! I rolled out of bed woke up this morning in a state of pure bliss (okay, lies! I had woken up from a dream where I was driving in a car with my zoology TA…). I then precipitated to the washroom where I do what I do everyday. Bristles and teeth . Wanna see what my toothbrush[...]http://lafillenaturelle.wordpress.com/2010/01...

Alright, I admit it. Last day’s post may have been slightly vain and perhaps unnecessary. Of course I know better than that. Of course I do. I know that change – real change, that is, be it physical, mental or spiritual – is not brought about by a resolution – it is sustained by a vision . A brother once shared that any amount of growth we have is only due[...]http://lafillenaturelle.wordpress.com/2009/12...

Sometimes, after spending a lot of time and thought preparing a beautiful dish, I have difficulty finding the right plate to put it on. I always feel like plates need to complement the appearance of the food itself, and that in turn, the appearance can affect the experience of the food. That being said, I do not always have the best selection of plates on hand (as a student, I[...]http://lafillenaturelle.wordpress.com/2009/12...

After a long morning at school today – 3 classes back-to-back! – I arrived back from my rainy trek at the front door of my house, starving. I was also in a serious rush because I had a 3-hour lab starting in half an hour, and that didn’t include eating-time and walking-back-to-school time! Unfortunately, I never did make it past my front door. You see, I left my[...]http://lafillenaturelle.wordpress.com/2010/01...

In honour of the Gena -inspired Raw Wednesdays , please observe my RAW lunch. A spring-mix goji berry salad with diced red peppers + a red curry coleslaw with goji berries and a mashed-in avocado, lemon juice, and dash of Herbamore. The curry coleslaw was the brainchild of my improvising genius when curry-drenched carrot fry craving started settling in at around noon time[...]http://lafillenaturelle.wordpress.com/2009/12...

Now, the important thing to remember here is that I have never before made a grain salad. I wasn't entirely sure how to, so perhaps this dish is really just cold rice and veggies. Having only ever sampled grain salads from grocery delis where every bean/rice salad seems to be flavoured with leftover sweet pickle juice (ew!!!). I was not a fan. I prefer my grains savoury, maybe with a hint of[...]http://notjustgreens.blogspot.com/2009/10/veg...

Rediscovering crumble a couple of weeks back put me in mind of all the awful school food I endured in the early 70s. With the help of a scholarship and a kindly attitude towards clergy daughters, I spent a very happy six years at what was then called the School of SS Mary and Anne, Abbots Bromley. The name gives away its very high church leanings, and in my day there were around 500 of us,[...]http://tastytottenham.blogspot.com/2009/08/sc...

The most creative cooking usually happens when you have to make do with what you’ve got and nothing could be more true then the endless recipes made with instant ramen noodles. When I was in college I won a plastic spray-painted gold spatula for making Pad Thai, using a package of instant ramen noodles, ketchup, peanut butter and a couple other ingredients; but I wasn’t always[...]http://www.foodista.com/blog/2009/08/25/back-...
