Apple Cinnamon Rolls
Walking our dog Chester on our street has given us the opportunity to befriend a lot of our neighbors. One in particular loves chatting with us all the time, and was generous enough to give us a bunch of apples from his apple tree. We thought it would be fun to make a dessert with it, so we came across a recipe for Apple Cinnamon Rolls. It’s quite a lot of work to do everything from scratch, but we had all the ingredients at home, so we gave it a shot. ![]() I love the colors of these apples! And I love it more because they were free. ![]() Combine 2 cups of flour along with sugar, instant yeast and salt. Then add melted butter, warm milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix together using an electric mixer. ![]() Continue combining more flour until a soft dough forms that leaves the sides of the mixing bowl. Knead the dough for another 10 minutes, cover, and leave to rest and rise for about an hour. ![]() Meanwhile, combine 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter, and 2 tsp cinnamon. Then add chopped apple pieces to the mixture. ![]() When the dough is ready, roll it out and spread the cinnamon mixture on top. Then, roll the dough into a log and pinch the dough together to seal at the end of the roll. ![]() Cut the roll into equal pieces and place in the bottom of a greased 9x13 baking pan. Cover the pan with a clean towel and allow the rolls to rise until at least doubled in size, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. You can also let them rise overnight in the fridge. ![]() After baking in a 350-degree oven for 30-35 minutes, the rolls should come out golden brown. ![]() Frost with some vanilla glaze and enjoy!
