  • Preheat the oven to 180 C. Lightly grease the baking pan and line the base with non-stick baking paper.
  • Pour hot coffee over chopped dates and walnuts and allow to cool.
  • Cream butter and sugar, add egs and beat well. Sift in dry ingredients.
  • Lastly, mix in date and nut mixture and vanilla extract.
  • Pour into prepared cake tin and bake for 50-60 minutes. Dust with icing sugar.
  • Serve warm with vanilla icecream.
