Thai Iced Tea with Boba

By My Cookingdom (Visit website)

Thai tea (also known as Thai iced tea) or "cha-yen" (Thai: ??????) in Thailand, is a drink made from strongly-brewed black tea ("red tea" in East Asia). Other ingredients may include added orange blossom water, star anise, crushed tamarind seed or red and yellow food coloring, and sometimes other spices as well. This tea is sweetened with sugar andcondensed milk and served chilled. Evaporated milk, coconut milk or whole milk is generally poured over the tea and ice before serving to add taste and creamy appearance. However, in Thailand, condensed milk and sugar are mixed with the tea before it is poured over ice and then topped with evaporated milk. In Thai restaurants worldwide, it is served in a tall glass, though in Thailand it is more typically poured over the crushed ice in a clear (or translucent) plastic bag.(Wikipedia).Since I doesn't know much about the tea,I just nicked it from wikipedia.hehehe
The first Thai Ice Tea with Boba we had was in Oriental City in London while hangout with my best buddy. She is taught me all about her Thai food and she knew that we love this tea a lot.So one day,she brought us the Thai tea and Boba (Tapioca Pearls),not forget the thai strainer for us to make Thai tea at home.
I just followed the recipe on the Thai tea bag and adjusted the sweetness according to my taste. Its so yummy and I love the color of the tea, hence its so easy to prepare and it?s important to make the tea very strong, since it is ultimately diluted with milk and ice.
Also, you can make a large batch of the sweetened tea in advance and keep it in the refrigerator, then you can just pour it over ice and top it with the condense milk or evaporated milk at the time of serving. Please do visit my First Beverage post.
