The Glenlivet Tasting Session
I recently attended an exclusive tasting session with The Glenlivet at HANA Roppongi Hill Pub & Bar in Desa Sri Hartamas. I got to sample The Glenlivet?s entire range of fine single-malt whiskys. Now, I?m no whisky expert, but of the range, I liked The Glenlivet 15. It had a good balance of fruits and spices, with a strong hint of vanilla and a smooth finish. The Glenlivet 12 had a subtle complexity and a fairly light aftertaste while the Glenlivet 18 was malty with an intense woody aftertaste. ![]() My table of 5 shared a bottle of The Glenlivet 12, with some finger food from the restaurant next door. I liked the bacon asparagus roll most. It was not the best I?ve tasted, but it was good enough with the whisky. We also had some siew yuk (I have no idea where that came from), skewered unagi, maguro (tuna) tempura, chicken yakitori, soft shell crab roll and a fusion unagi roll. The maguro tempura was not bad - it had a firm, pink centre and a crisp exterior. I found the soft shell crab roll bland with the crab being too soggy and slightly chewy. But that's just me being nit-picky about my food, I can be very choosy sometimes. Maguro Tempura Soft Shell Crab RollIt was nice meeting Deep, Horng and Cindy in person. Thanks for the invite, Eric. I had fun! Deep (Thirsty Blogger) l-r: Deep, Aaron (Brand Manager of Pernod Ricard), myself, Horng & Cindy
