Indian broad beans / Avaraikkai Poriyal
Actually I eat almost all the veggie's and that how my mom raised me but the same does not applies for my H..He s so picky in everything ,and needless to say he hates this veggie..this is one veggie I would like to eat it with sambhar ,nothing can beat the combo of sambar and avarai poriyal,so matching matching and I love it. This time i got a chance to prepare this veggie and to say the truth,It was divine...I love it ..... This doesn't involve much preparation other than it's cooking time.. Ingredients : Avarakkai /Broad beans -- chopped -- 1 cup Green chilly -- 2 nos. Chilly powder -- 1/4 tsp (optional) Shredded Coconut -- 2 tbsp Salt -- to taste For tempering : Oil --2 tsp Shallots --slivered -- 2 nos. Mustard seeds --1/2 tsp Urad dal -- 1/2 tsp Curry leaves -- 1 sprig Method : Take awide pan and do the seasoning with the ingredients given in tempering section. Add the green chillies with that and saute . Now dump in the chopped avarakkai/broad beans and saute well for 1 or 2 minutes. Add plenty of water and reqd amount of salt to this mixture to cook the veggie..Keep in mind ,this beans takes more time to cook so add water accordingly. Add the red chilli powder before adding water to the veggie if u like it spicy. Cook the veggie well till it becomes tender. U may finally add the coconut once the water is completely fried up. Combine well and switch off. Sending this entry to Only Greens hosted by Sara ,started by Foodelicious .. related searches : Indian
