ETTORE'S EUROPEAN BAKERY & RESTAURANT

First let me say that last Sunday I had went to Ettore's & basically left without getting something to eat. Believe me, I'm being nice. Usually I don't give places a second chance.

But that was the past. I have forgiven them. I gave Ettore's a second chance!

So this morning I returned to Ettore's located at 2376 Fair Oaks Boulevard for some breakfast.

This is a very nice restaurant & bakery. The crowd is the 40's and up group. I got there around 8:45AM so there wasn't that big of a crowd. You have to order & pay for your meal first, then find a table.

So with that being said, I ordered my breakfast consisting of two eggs over easy, bacon, country / home style potatoes, fresh fruit & toast. With the coffee my total was $10.78. The cashier gave me a little sign with a number on it & a coffee cup.

There was a coffee station by the entrance to the restaurant. Let me say that the coffee was indeed serve yourself. However, the coffee was excellent. I mean this was some Primo Joe. It must have been smuggled in from Columbia or something. It was some good stuff. I haven't had a good cup of coffee like this in a long time.

After filling my coffee, I made my way to an empty table. Sipping my coffee I noticed there was no silverware. No silverware? How am I supposed to eat? WTF?

Looking around I found the silverware & grabbed my knife & fork. There were no spoons. I grabbed a few napkins.

After a few minutes my meal was brought to my table. As far as service, that's all the service you get at Ettore's. From that point on I was basically on my own.

My meal was off the hook! It was pretty damn good. The potatoes were the small red ones with a secret spice on them. The bacon was crisp. The fruit was a variety of watermelon & cantaloupe. I got one slice of toast. But where's the jam & jelly?

I couldn't find the jelly anywhere.

Towards the end of my meal I noticed customers getting up & busing there own tables. I was in shock! They don't have a busboy?

If you wanted more coffee you had to get up & get your own. I did get up for another cup. Like I said it was some pretty good coffee.

At the end of my meal I got up & put my dishes & coffee cup away in a plastic tub on one of the counters. This was just too weird for me.

As I was walking out of the place I spotted the jelly. Nice huh?

They need to have the server come out to your table & take your order. They need to have someone fill your coffee. For the $10.78 I paid, I expect this.

Hire a bus boy, it won't kill you & it will give someone a job. That's how allot of people get started in the restaurant business.

The meal was excellent.

Will I go back to Ettore's? Maybe.... Maybe not....

I give the meal 3 out of 4 stars.

I give the service 1 out of 4 stars.

Have you been to Ettores? Let me know!

Please post your comments.
