Konju avial/Prawns avial-A non veg Avial..

Aviyal is a very special dish in Kerala Cuisine that is made out of a lots of vegetables, curd and coconut.It is seasoned with coconut oil and curry leaves. Aviyal is an inevitable part of the Kerala Sadhya..Here i have tried out avial with some dried prawns..This makes it completely non veg dish...This taste simply great...My family enjoyed having ths...
U need
1.Vegetables

Snake gourd(Padavalanga)
Raw Banana(Vazhakka)
Drumsticks(Muringakka)
Carrot
Raw mango/pacha manga
Tindora
all vegetables 1 cup each cut into 1 inch length pieces

2.Grated coconut - 1 cup
3.Curd/yogurt - 1/2 cup
4.Green chillies - 3 nos
5.Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
6.Cumin seeds(Jeera) - 1 tbsp
7.Salt - As reqd
8.Coconut oil - 1 tbsp
9.Curry leaves - 2 stems
10.Mustard seeds-1 tsp
11.Dried prawns-small/medium sized- 2 cups..
12.Ginger and garlic chopped-1 tblsp each.
13.Red chilly powder-2 tsp..

How to make Prawns Avial

1)First cook the vegetables along with ginger,garlic,red chilly powder,turmeric powder and salt till they are half done.
Add just enough water along ..(Dont add too much salt,dried prawns may have salt..).
2)Then add the dried prawns...Cook well till almost all water goes off and all items are tender.
3)Grind together coconut, cumin seeds and green chilly to a coarse paste.
4)Add coconut paste, curd and salt.
6)Simmer the stove, till all the water is absorbed.
7.Splutter mustard seeds,curry leaves and pour the seasoning over the cooked vegetables.
Serve hot with rice,,Njoy!!!
