Poach to Perfection.
Some good excuse to wake up a little late today. Class won't start till eleven, but I just couldn't sleep after half past eight. I felt so restless and eager to wake up to make myself some good breakfast. It has been some time since I had eggs for breakfast. Very classic, isn't it?Never had time to even get eggs done on usual days, my class starts at eight so I grab instant oats with me on the go. Introducing the sexiest man alive, Chef Curtis Stone. My favourite chef I wouldn't miss seeing on TV, being the Take Home Chef, it doesn't take him much to prepare a gourmet dinner from starters to dessert. Simply love the way he speaks with his Aussie accent. Opps, am I watching a cook show or what? I never knew what was poached eggs until I saw it some fine day at Smitten Kitchen with guides and steps on how to poach an egg. Aha! so they do have a right way to poach an egg. I thought they were as simple as how we do it on steamboats where I used to get really excited to get to the eggs but mum never let me cook them until the end as they would probably pollute the whole pot with egg white foams. (And I never got to the eggs as I was stuffed with fishballs by the time they're done). I was 8, as far as I can remember. Still, you know how much I love the typical telur setengah masak (half boiled eggs), or probably like three quarters cooked. Just like how Elin perfected them. They look so wobbly and delicious. I would usually dip kaya toast into it, I know it sounds weird that taste of sweetness in kaya with eggs but.. call me weird then, but if you don't try this there must be something wrong with you!! Rawr. How to Poach an Egg You will need: an egg a pot of water some white wine vinegar (or any vinegar) a clean dry towel 1) Bring a pot of water to a rapid boil. Put in some vinegar. 2) Crack eggs into a bowl. 3) Lower the heat and let it simmer. 4) Slowly slip off the egg from the bowl into the pot of water. 5) Immediately use a chopstick to swirl the whites of the egg to help it hold together. 6) Let it cook for a couple of minutes. 7) Spoon the egg out from the pot with a greased ladle. Place it on a clean towel and gently pat it dry. Flip it over onto your toasted bread. Sprinkle with some salt and freshly grounded black pepper. These poached eggs just brightened my day and I was ready for class. As I walked down the road passing by Starbucks to pay for my parking ticket, the guy who worked there asked "Breakfast at Starbucks, Miss?", and I just smiled at him. How nice. He reminded me of the poached eggs I made for myself in the morning. Okay, I'm going to drop by for a cup of coffee tomorrow. Not that I fancy Starbucks alot, I prefer Coffee Bean actually but since he put a smile on my face today, why not.It has been a long day for me. And I had just realized the three of my previous post were of breads! Can't get enough of breakfast. Breakfast for breakfast, breakfast for lunch and breakfast for dinner. Oh no, that's so not happening. Whatever happened to the cakes and luscious desserts? ![]() related searches : Poach
