Blogger?s Break: the modern day writer?s block
After receiving such beautiful responses from my last post, I briefly entertained the temptation to post soon thereafter. However, I fought it. And I won. As much as this blog is sincerely an integral part of me, I knew that what I really needed this past week was a mini-vacation from my own writing. I call this the Blogger’s Break. It’s kind of like having Writer’s Block, only it’s self-imposed, and much less socially acceptable. See, back in the old days, when writers existed and actually got Writer’s Block, instituting silence was only a matter of claiming your rightful status as a poor destitute artist, and then going off into some desolate corner to bite your nails off. Or something. The modern-day writer (read: blogger), however, has no such luxury. Instead, she has responsibility. Accountability. (Concepts that my 20-year-old mind has yet to own up to.) Let’s pretend that you care to know what I’ve been up to all week! Well, among many things, I have been appreciating the ghetto-ness of my Toronto neighbourhood: Taking advantage of post-Easter chocolate sales: Catching up with old friends and meeting new people (over dinner, naturally): Spitting on my brother while brushing my teeth (it was an accident! he made me laugh!): Appreciating Mom’s seaweed noodles and white fungus: Spending the day with Mom and Jacob (my brother) at the mall, and then having lunch together. (Insert game here called: “Guess who ate what?”) Taking pictures of random Chinese people in a Chinese bakery: Overall, I would say that my one-week Blogger’s Break could be summarized as follows: That is all. Peace out, homies ~ Aletheia P.S. Jessie made GREEEEENOLA!! Here and here. So lovely. So, so lovely.
