Cinnamon-Sugar Apples
Tonight, I finally decided to try out baked apples. I have a bag of apples that are going to go bad in a few days, so baked apples sounded like the perfect thing to make on this lovely fall evening.
I start by peeling two apples (Galas - they're my favorite) and slicing them up, making sure to leave out the nasty, seedy bits. I put all the pieces into a microwave-safe bowl and get to work on the toppings. I use about half a tablespoon of cinnamon-sugar (I would have used more, but using it requires grinding it) and a half a tablespoon of butter substitute and pour them on top of the apples. I microwave the bowl for two minutes. After the apples are done cooking, I mix everything around so the cinnamon-sugar is more evenly distributed. The apples are pretty good, despite the insubstantial amount of cinnamon-sugar. Next time I try this, I will be sure to use more apples and cinnamon-sugar. I will also buy the cinnamon-sugar already ground. That would probably be a less foolish idea. Apples pre-microwave: Apples post-microwave: And the results were... SWEETLY DELICIOUS!
