Recipe Review: Cheesesteak Stromboli
This recipe is my own creation and we absolutely love it!
- Half of Wegman's Whole Wheat Pizza Dough Ball (If you're making this for more people, then use the whole ball and increase the other ingredients accordingly. I freeze the half that I'm not using and it freezes very well.) - 1 cup Shredded 2% Mozzarella Cheese - 16 ounces pizza sauce - 1/2 pound 93% Fat Free organic ground beef - As many sliced peppers and onions as you can fit in the pan or desire - 1 tbsp olive oil First, I brown an entire pound of ground beef, then I drain and freeze half of it to use in another meal. Second, carmelize peppers and onions in olive oil until desired texture. Third, mix ground beef, peppers and onions, and sauce together and heat for a few minutes until warm. Fourth, shape out pizza dough into large square. I use the baking tray from my toaster oven and just cover with foil sprayed with cooking spray. Place a few spoons of the sauce mixture in the middle of the square, then layer some cheese in, then more sauce, then more cheese. Continue doing until use all ingredients. Fifth, fold in sides first and pinch dough together. Then slowly work to outside edges until its all sealed tight. Finally, place in oven (or toaster oven) at 400 degrees until dough is crunchy on outside. The finished product will look like this: I cut this into four servings, but John will eat two for dinner. I'll save my second serving for dinner tomorrow night when I'll get home late from school. I serve it with some zucchini sauteed in olive oil in the pan that I had sauce mixture, so it gets a little covered with some sauce as well. related searches : Recipe
