Recipe Review: Taco Bake

By Domestic Diva's Delicious Dishes (Visit website)

Here's something scrumdiddlyupmtious for you to enjoy. This is a little more involved but still easy. I'm going to give the directions how I do it to condense it to the shortest amount of time. Feel free to cook this however you are comfortable.

Ingredients:
Box of Mac & Cheese
1/4 Cup Milk
1/4 Cup Butter
1/4 Cup Sour Cream

1 lb Ground Beef or Turkey
1 packet Taco Seasoning
1/2 Cup Water*

1/4 Cup Salsa
1/2 Cup Crushed Tortilla Chips
1/4 Cup Shredded Cheese

??
Some of the many ingredients!
??
Directions:
I like to get everything together before I start, open the packaging and have it all ready to use and at my fingertips. This 5 minutes of prep saves me tons of time while I'm cooking and I don't run around trying to find things at the last minute. All of my instructions assume you will follow this method...just a disclaimer now because this assumption is readily evident in the prep of this meal.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Start by boiling the water for that macaroni. Once this is on the stove, put the ground meat in the pan and brown. When the water reaches a boil, add the macaroni and cook. When the ground meat finishes cooking, drain the fat, return to the pan and add the packet of taco seasoning and 1/2 cup of water. Mix the taco seasoning and meat together and simmer for approximately 5-10 minutes. The macaroni should be finished, drain it and return it to the pan. Add the 1/4 cup butter, 1/4 milk and cheese sauce mix. Mix together and then add 1/4 cup of sour cream. Mix until well blended.

? Now, layer the macaroni and cheese into a casserole dish.

Then top with the salsa, crushed tortilla chips and shredded cheese.
All ready to bake!!!

Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly!
Dinner all ready to go! Now eat!!
I typically serve taco bake with spanish rice and refried beans. But, it doesn't need anything and can be served as a stand alone casserole. Whatever makes you happy! Just enjoy!!
