Tonight's Original Post...

OK, so I originally wanted to post tonight to talk about the fact that it is currently 45 days until Christmas, and my roommates have already decorated our house for the big day.
Now, remember, Halloween was just 10 days ago. I walked into the house, and I'll admit, I was a little put-off. We went right from Halloween to Christmas?? No Thanksgiving?? I mean, come on, some homage has to be paid to the third best holiday of the year. (1 and 2 being Christmas and New Year's, respectively)

I love turkey day. I love the parade, which in recent years has been spent inside the warm Campbell's tent getting free food and drinks. I love the smell and warmth in the house while Mom cooks the big ol' bird for the feast later in the day. I love how fabulous the table always looks when Mom gets us all to chip in and help pull it all together. I love how the dining room is transformed with all the colors and people in it. And of course, the cooking is absolutely delicious. Turkey, homemade gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, mashed turnips, (this year I'll eat them, I promise...) candied yams, green bean casserole, corn, biscuits, pumpkin, apple, and cherry pies... o man, I just made myself hungry.
(Also, for those of you who are just as hungry as me, Wawa right now has the most delicious sandwich ever - the gobbler. turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy? Hoo baby, it's Thanksgiving dinner on a whole wheat shorti. Scrumptious!)

But still, Thanksgiving is most definitely a day to be celebrated in its own right. Doesn't everyone have something to be thankful for? I know I have plenty to celebrate, so why can't I put up a Turkey decoration or two? I think it's just silly, personally. I understand that once we come back from Thanksgiving break, there will only be a week of classes before finals, but still. Thanksgiving deserves at least SOME recognition.
