A Cook?s Christmas

By Pots and Plots (Visit website)

I know, I know.  I’ve been scarce since Thanksgiving.  Lots going on.  Been out of town, busy writing a new class, putting out a new book (Devil’s Eye), and generally relying on lots of old favorites that you’ve already seen.  I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas.  I certainly did! It was a cook’s Christmas for me.

I got a nice fancy set of stainless measuring cups to replace my several decrepit sets of plastic ones.
I got a lovely new box grater with a handle that will replace my crappy Walmart special.  This will hopefully lead to fewer grated knuckles.
I wound up with TWO–count ‘em–TWO great new bread knives, which again, will hopefully lead to fewer kitchen accidents of sliced fingers because my old bread knife didn’t do real well with crusty bread.
And best of all, I got Julia Child’s Kitchen Wisdom and Mastering the Art of French Cooking, the latter of which has been on my wish list for a few years now.

Very, very excited!  So many fantastic recipes.  It will take me a lifetime to get through them all.  But I tell you what.  2011 is going to be the year I learn how to make pastry dough!

Merry Christmas all!  And I’ll be back in the kitchen in a few days when I return from my mother’s.
