A SOUTHERN TWIST ON CABBAGE
INGREDIENTS: 1 cabbage(you'll need 1 for every 6 people) 1/2 package of bacon 1 can diced RO-TEL tomatoes(drained) 1 medium onion(chopped) 1 medium bell pepper(chopped) 1/2 cup-chicken broth 1 tsp-apple cider vinegar 1 TBSP-balsamic vinegar 1 TBSP-white vinegar 1 tsp-salt 1 tsp-pepper 1 tsp-paprika 1 diced jalpeno(seeds removed, optional to use) 4 TBSP-butter It looks like alot but it's easy to put together!! Prepare bacon first...... 1. Cut each strip of bacon in half. 2. Cook bacon until crispy, crumble and set aside. Reserve about 3 TBSP bacon grease Cabbage is next..... 3. Remove the core from the cabbage.(It's white and very hard) 4. Chop and wash cabbage. Saute time.... 5. On medium-high, heat bacon grease and butter. 6. Cook onion, bell pepper, and jalpeno(if using) for about 2 minutes. 7. Add tomatoes. Almost ready...... 1. Add cabbage, chicken broth, balsamic vinegar, apple cider vinegar, white vinegar,salt, pepper, and half of reserved bacon. 2. Cook for about 30 minutes. 3. Top with remaining bacon and Enjoy!! COOKING TIPS: * As cabbage cooks it makes it own water, that why you only need about a 1/2 cup liquid for 1 cabbage. related searches : Southern
