Bloggers block

By Bittersweet Bigarades Ramblings (Visit website)

Its more like,Bloggers laziness,This 2 week Easter break (lucky aren't I!)

has really got to me.

Readers,these are bad times!

Basically, I'm really behind with college work,And for some strange reason,Volcanic ash has decided to disrupt everything,but college,(so far).

But back to this;

April 14th was Vaisakhi,and it marks the birth of the Khalsa,& the start of a new month!

Traditionally, Indian people eat something sweet,when celebrating.

Well what's sweeter than Jalebi?

I haven got a picture of these,Typical isn't it!!

as I took them off the heat they were eaten,so is the fate of these gorgeous little jalebis!

These are so Lovely,

They're super sweet and crunchy Anddddd...Theyre orange (bonus!)

This recipe is from Sanjeev Kapoors "Khazana Of Indian Recipes"

I "Borrowed" This Picture from google!

To make these you will need;

11/2 Cups of plain flour
1 tspn Baking soda
1/4 cup of semolina

4 tablespoons of yogurt

A large pinch of saffron

Enough oil to deep fry these beauties in

21/2 Cups Sugar
3 Cardamom pods
A few drops of Rosewater

Mix the flour

Mix the flour,saffron, yoghurt & baking soda & cover,leave to ferment over night.

For the syrup

Mix together the water,rosewater,sugar & the cardamom pods.

Reduce the syrup until it is thick.

Heat the oil,and when the oil is hot pipe the jalebis into coils or pretzel shapes.

until they float to the top,and are golden.

remove from the oil,drain and place into the syrup for 5 minutes.

then remove & enjoy
