Health nut update

By the health nut (Visit website)

As much as I?ve enjoyed sleeping in and having time for life, I?m anxious to get back to work (now you all think I?m crazy). I love schedules and routines, and it?s weird not to have anything pressing (besides studying for the RD exam) right now. Anyone else crave structure and staying busy?

More summer recipe ideas?wild rice salad aka fiber in a bowl. Veggie roll call: broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, & carrots + Italian dressing.

Some people don?t believe that local food is fresher, better tasting, and more nutrient-rich. I?m pretty sure they?ve never tasted local strawberries from a roadside stand. These are the best strawberries I?ve had in a long time.

Besides making a delish oatmeal topping (yes, definitely still eat oats in the summer), strawberries + bananas = fave smoothie combo.

Currently hanging out in the artsy, green-friendly town of Bloomington with my twin sister. It?s 90 F here, and I?ve already managed to get a healthy dose of sunburn, not quite unlike the pink elephant Bethany is holding?yikes.

This is what the bookshelf of a creative writing MFAer looks like?so many books! Even though we?re twins, we definitely have taken different career paths (but still share a love for all things artsy).

The job search has been an up and down rollercoaster so far. I do have a couple of interviews coming up, and although it?s a tough process, I?m definitely identifying areas of nutrition that I?m most passionate about along the way. If there?s one piece of advice I?d give to anyone who will be job searching in the future, it would be network like your life depends on it.

If nutrition doesn?t work out, I can always fall back on a card-designing career (j/k?I don?t think I could make a living with my limited photoshop skills).

Another note?the 2010 Dietary Guidelines have finally been released. This report is really extensive, and it?ll take me a little bit to weed through it. Feel free to check it out for yourself or stay tuned for my highlights?

Happy Weekend?
