Tahoe Trip-Day 2
Note: The Food and Wine Classic starts in Aspen today! Anton gets to go. I don’t but will be taking some pics outside in stealth mode. Well, as stealth mode as I can get with two kids who are as enthusiastic about cooking as the rest of the family. If the kids see Alton Brown or Bobby Flay, there will be jumping up and down and screaming going on! Anyway. Back to Tahoe! Day two. A.M. Breakfast. We don’t want to try the casino food, so we drop into the Safeway next door to the seminar building. Wow!
They had the most amazing donut selection! If we brought the kids ANYTHING from this trip, this would be it. (We didn’t, though). If you like donuts, frosting, and sprinkles, this is the place to be.
Moving on to the more health-oriented areas of the store, we found that some very creative people work in the veg and fruit department. A gentleman named Charlie explained that whenever they have time, they enjoy arranging the fruit and veg into visual works of art. We need these people at our store! So what did we end up with for breakfast? Starbuck’s coffee (of course!), Greek yoghurt, and bananas. No, we did NOT get donuts! I caved the morning we went home, though… At the end of our workday, we all went down to Round Hill Beach for drinks.
What a gorgeous spot! I’m not sure I would even miss the ocean sitting here!
A small and friendly bar, a restaurant open during the day (quite good, I was told!), and concerts during the summer.
We grabbed a couple of margaritas and sat to chat and enjoy the sunset.
Later, we stopped at Coyote Grill for dinner on the way back to the hotel. It was OK, but… wish the beach grill had been open! I had the grilled chicken tostada salad….
Anton got beef enchiladas. Not the easiest to photograph! Back to the Horizon Hotel and Casino to sleep. Day three tomorrow! Off to the Food and Wine this afternoon! all photos and content © leslie hunter uhl 2010 related searches : Tahoe
