Oatmeal in less than 5 minutes!
In case you didn't know, I am a big fan of oatmeal. I may have mentioned it before, I can't remember but maybe.
Steel cut is my fave. Lizzy at Coach's Oats sent me some of their oats to try. from their website: "Coach's Oats are prepared in an entirely new way. The groats are toasted to bring the natural sugars to the surface of the oat, then cracked into small pieces. This patented Cracked n' Toasted? process means that Coach's Oats is never mushy, always naturally delicious and cooks in just five minutes" wow! 5 minutes! That has always been the thing about steel cut oats-they take 30 to 45 minutes to cook! They don't look like rolled oats. They look like steel cut oats that have been chopped a little. I followed the instructions and cooked them on the stove one day and in the microwave another day. On the stove they cooked in 3 1/2 minutes! In the microwave they cooked in 3 1/2 minutes! Both methods made a tasty bowl of creamy good oatmeal! I stirred in my usual cinnamon, almond butter, maple syrup and soymilk. Coach's Oats are a good "in-between" oatmeal. "In-between" rolled oats and steel cut. They definately had the feel of steel cut oats and the creamy-ness of rolled oats. The website has recipes for oatmeal cookies, apple crisp, oat bread and pancakes! I like that they are easy and quick to make! There's no excuse to not have oatmeal for breakfast!
