Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes with Brown Sugar Butter Cream Frosting

Hi there! Don't these sound good? While they were very good, I think they would be better as muffins, not cupcakes. The cake part is way too dense in my opinion to be a cupcake. I need to try this again using a cake recipe that would be more light and fluffy, then they would be perfect! I plopped a ball of frozen chocolate chip cookie dough in the middle, and after the cupcakes were baked up, that part was heavenly! The dough was a little gooey, even the next day. It's a nice surprise! I have a post lined up about freezing cookie dough, and that's the dough I used in these. It's the Nestle Tollhouse original recipe. I topped these with my butter cream frosting, and I decreased the powdered sugar by 1/4 cup, and added 1/4 cup brown sugar. I really liked the brown sugar in the butter cream, it went perfect with the cupcakes. Make sure if you make it that you mix the brown sugar in there good, because you don't want gritty frosting. All in all, these were good, but I wouldn't make them again using the same cake recipe, if you have a tried and true classic yellow/white cake recipe, use that, and then just do everything the same way..you will love 'em! *btw, if you're noticing I have half of the ingredients in my 'ingredient picture' as I do in the recipe, that's because I halved it :)

Ingredients:
2 1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 1/2 Cups Granulated Sugar
2 Sticks Butter
2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
4 Eggs
1 Cup Milk
2 Cups Mini Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Frozen Cookie Dough Balls (about 1 tablespoon size)
Butter Cream Frosting (decrease powdered sugar by 1/4 cup, and add 1/4 cup brown sugar)

Directions:
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl. Beat granulated sugar, butter and vanilla in a large bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture alternately with milk. Stir in half of the chocolate chips. Scoop into prepared muffin tins. Place cookie dough ball in center of batter and slightly push down. Bake in a pre-heated 375 degree oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean (a little cookie dough might stick, but that's okay). After cooled, frost with butter cream and sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips.
