Recently, a Portuguese Menu reader asked me the name of a typical Portuguese center region´s sweet. By the description given by this reader it can only be "Ovos Moles".
Ovos Moles is a typical Aveiro´s sweet. Aveiro is a Portuguese city located in central littoral zone.
Ovos Moles are made of a mixture of rice flour, water, egg yolks and sugar.
Ovos Moles de Aveiro are an egg sweet that is sold in this region in two different presentations, as you can see in the picture above.
The small wooden recipients (barricas) have hand-painted sea scenes and are filled with sweet. The small white barricas can be found in different shapes and are made of Host which is filled with egg sweet. Delicious!
