Who Moved The Idlies Now?

By Different Strokes (Visit website)

The title sounds funny! Hmm?somewhat, why should I move the Idlies but?
Nothing serious, its Just to give vent to my food cravings and to save my words, yes this space is for recipes, which have no connection to health and diet, just hog on and Spppp..lurge.

I often make extra idlies and move them to my refrigerator, to make a tasty snack the next day. The crispy & delicious snack which my kids love to devour, and I too love to  indulge in, in the name of my kids :)

Ingredients;
3 cups. Boiled rice (a variety of rice) 1 cup of urad dal (black gram) 1 tsp. Fenugreek seeds A pinch of salt 1/2 cup water Oil for deep frying
Method:Wash and soak the rice, dal and fenugreek seeds for 2 hours. Grind all the ingredients together to a fine paste. Add salt and keep the batter aside for 8-10 hours and let it ferment. The batter can be stored in refrigerator for 4-5 days.

Take a steamer or small cup size moulds and grease them with a little oil. Pour the batter in each mould and steam it for 6-7 minutes. The batter can be cooked in a flat plate with curved sides and then cut into desired shapes.

Heat oil in a wok and fry the pieces in small batches till they are golden brown in color. Drain it on a tissue paper. Serve hot with tomato sauce or fresh coriander leaves spread.

Note:
Mix brown rice and white rice in the ratio of 1:2 for a different taste..These snacks make a good party starters.Pack them in kids lunchbox with tomato sauce for a change.Bulgar steamed cakes can be fried the same way.Sprinkle chaat masala over it enjoy a crunchy tea time snack.

Warning: The snack is loaded with oil and is not advisable if you are looking out for some healthy options in food.

Try healthy food in Recipe bites.
