White vinegar, often used in the home, is also a versatile product in the kitchen. Not only is it economical, natural and environmentally friendly, it can also transform the way you cook and maintain your kitchen. Here's why white vinegar is an essential ally;-)

1. Clean and disinfect naturally

White vinegar is an excellent natural disinfectant, perfect for cleaning kitchen surfaces. Thanks to its acidity, it removes bacteria and grease residues from worktops, utensils and even appliances such as microwaves and refrigerators. It's a safe alternative to chemicals, especially in areas where you prepare meals.

Tip: Dilute one part white vinegar with one part water and use this mixture to clean your surfaces. This effectively removes dirt while neutralizing unpleasant odors.

2. Descaling and degreasing

White vinegar is formidable for removing limescale and greasy deposits. If you have a kettle or coffee-maker, run it with a mixture of white vinegar and water to remove limescale. It's also perfect for removing stubborn grease from frying pans, hotplates or oven racks.

Tip: Heat white vinegar in a greasy pan to dissolve tough residues. Rinse with clean water and it's as good as new!

3. Preserving your food

White vinegar is also used to preserve certain foods. For example, when preparing pickled vegetable preserves (gherkins, carrots, onions, etc.), vinegar acts as a natural preservative, preventing the proliferation of bacteria and mold.

Tip: Make marinades with white vinegar, water, salt and herbs to extend the shelf life of your vegetables!

4. Cook eggs to perfection

Having trouble cooking perfect poached eggs? Simply add a spoonful of white vinegar to the cooking water. The acidity of the vinegar allows the egg whites to coagulate more quickly, preventing them from dispersing in the water.

Tip: Heat the water with a tablespoon of white vinegar before adding your eggs. The result: perfect poached eggs in no time!

5. Deodorize the kitchen

Between fish, onion and garlic smells, a kitchen can quickly accumulate unpleasant odors. White vinegar is an excellent odor neutralizer. Let it boil in a pan of water on the stove, and it will absorb bad smells while purifying the air in your kitchen.

Tip: If a strong smell persists in your kitchen after cooking, leave a small bowl of white vinegar out overnight. You'll be amazed at the effectiveness of this method!

6. Eliminate pesticides on fruit and vegetables

Even if the fruit and vegetables you buy look clean, they can sometimes contain pesticide residues. White vinegar can help you remove them. By diluting it in water and soaking your produce in it for a few minutes, you'll greatly reduce these residues, while effectively cleaning your fruit and vegetables.

Tip: Wash your fruit and vegetables with a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts water, rinse well and dry before eating.
