Rajma curry ( kidney beans gravy )


Rajma / Kidney Beans-1 cup dried
Onion-1 large chopped finely
Tomato-3 pureed
Ginger Garlic Paste-1 tblspn
Coriander powder / Malli Podi-1 tblspn
Red chilli powder-2 tsp
Cumin seeds / Jeera-1 tsp
Turmeric powder / Manjal Podi-1 tsp
Garam masala powder-1 tsp
Coriander leaves for garnishing
Oil-4 tblspn


Soak Rajma over night,drain it...Put this in pressure cooker and add a little bit of salt..The pressure cook for 3 whistles and leave for 25-30 min on a slow flame..Then switch off the flame and let the pressure go down automatically and open it up..The Beans should be soft when pressed.

Heat oil in a kadai and add in cumin seeds..Add in onions and fry till golden.

Add in turmeric powder and mix well.Add in ginger garlic paste and cook that for 1 min.

Add in chilli and coriander powder and mix well.

Pour in tomato puree and cook that till oil separtes from this.

Add in garam masala powder and mix well.

Tip in the cooked rajma along with the cooking water and mix well.

Cook on a slow flame till oil separates.

Garnish with coriander leaves.Serve it with rice or roti..
