READERS CHALLENGE: DO UNTO OTHERS

By SACRAMENTO BLOG UNCUT (Visit website)

In these hard economic times all of us have noticed that the American Dollar isn't quite what it used to be. We have had to cut back on our spending, actually look at the weekly grocery ads & lose 20 or 30 channels out of our cable TV lineup.

Some of us have lost our jobs, lost our homes & filed for bankruptcy. Then to top it off, if you do have a job many of us have had our hours cut or have to take furlough days.

But just remember that despite your situation many Americans have it far worse. Many Americans are living on the street. They sleep under a bridge or in an abandoned building. They are hungry. They are the homeless. They are the forgotten.

So yes, you can donate to a charity & clear your mind of guilt. But where does that donation really go? How much of the money is really going to feed the hungry? How much is going for shelter & clothing?

I guess the best question is how much of your donation is going for Administrative Fees?

With that being said, I challenge all of my readers to put together some food for the homeless. Take your food donation to the streets & personally hand it out. It can be a sandwich, burritos or whatever you feel right in giving.

The main point is to give...

I usually give out sandwiches & cookies. Sometimes I give out canned meat with some crackers. In the past I have given out containers of pasta with some garlic bread.

Let me say that it's far more rewarding to do this than just writing a check & putting it in the mail.

I know you will do the right thing.

Good Luck!
