Some Tools of the Trade

By Bites of the Day (Visit website)

Good afternoon everyone! As you read this I am meeting my new roommates and trying to get as much unpacked and organized before the mandatory hall meeting! Since it is such a hectic day I'm taking the day off from food documentation...but still wanted to give you all something good to read! I was given an opportunity to present you all with an article from www.cookware.com. They have such a vast amount of supplies on their website that it was hard for me to choose just one item to discuss. So why go with just one? There is a vast array of kitchen equipment out there but there are some basics that are always good to have in your kitchen. I know I definitely utilize all these items! Enjoy!

A Bakers Guide to Cookware

When first stocking your kitchen, most people find it wise to invest in cookware sets that provide them with the basics. While these fundamental pots and pans are useful for most cooking projects, those that specialize in baking will require a different set of tools. While many meals can be prepared by improvising with different pots and pans, many baking projects require tools of a particular shape or material. There are a few pieces of bakeware that no kitchen should be without.

A Baking Sheet

Baking sheets are needed for popular baked goods such as cookies, biscuits, and other pastries. Every kitchen should have a few baking sheets ranging in size for different projects. Nonstick aluminum baking sheets are best, because aluminum is an excellent heat conductor which will help ensure that your food is cooked evenly. The non stick coating will also help you remove your baked goods with ease after they are done baking without the risk of them sticking to the pan and breaking.

Muffin Pans

No matter how good you are at improvising in the kitchen, it is nearly impossible to bake muffins without a muffin pan. Muffin pans come in many different styles and can bake muffins in a variety of sizes. A standard muffin pan can bake between 8 and 12 muffins depending on the size of the pan and the number of muffin cups. Some pans even feature unique molds that allow you to create muffins in less traditional shapes.

Bread and Loaf Pans

Deep bread and loaf pans are needed for bread making. Whether youíre making banana bread, pumpkin bread, or simply white bread, these particular pans are a necessary to do the job right. Loaf pans too come in a wide range of sizes and styles to allow for many different types of loaves. Like muffin pans, some loaf pans are designed with ornate molds that allow you to add a little flare to your fresh baked breads. Available in plethora of different materials, there is a loaf pan for almost any type of break you can image.
