Tools of the Trade

By Food In Real Life (Visit website)

What is that strange purple toothbrush without the bristles looking thing on your plate, you ask??

Well, it's my new orange peeler! (used on a grapefruit). Yesterday, my host teacher used this nifty tool to peel an orange and she had a pack of them and gave me one. I tried it out this morning and was impressed! It digs into the peel just enough to get it perfect. And it saves your nails :) (or lack there of).

I'm not a huge food gadget person, but this is cool! And free :)

Last night's dinner was great. Joe's bean soup was super tasty. It has a great smoky flavor from smoked pork and chili powder.

Mmmm...perfect for a cold rainy night!

On the side I had some spaghetti squash with butter and parmesan. I really like spaghetti squash. It is fun to eat and good for you too.

HOWEVER....i don't believe and never will believe that it is a pasta substitute. It totally tastes like squash and not spaghetti. Let's be real people.

What are your favorite kitchen gadgets??

And what foods do people use as a sub for something more indulgent that you just don't think cuts it?

Have a great Thursday!
