Vintage Apron from Shanty Girl review and giveaway

I love to cook, but I have to admit, I am a mess in the kitchen!  I learned a long time ago that I have to wear an apron anytime I am in the kitchen or I ruin my clothes!  I met Sherry from Shanty Girl and knew I had to have one of her aprons.



Sherry is a mother of 5 blended family who has 4 grown children and has adopted her granddaughter who she has had since she was 6 days old.  She has worked full time in an IT department for a hospital organization for 8 years.  During her "single mother years" when she was raising two boys, she was a hairdresser and a waitress carrying 2 jobs.  She finally decided to be a stay at home mom.  Now that the little one is in school full time Sherry needed a creative outlet.  Enter Shanty Girl!!



I fell in love with Sherry's "Masquerade" apron.  It is a full sized French Style hostess apron and was designed with Marie Antoinette in mind.  Sherry was inspired by a vintage masquerade mask she had purchased when out at an antique store. You will not find this original Shanty Girl design anywhere else!



When I first contacted Sherry, she asked how her aprons fit in with the frugal life style I promote on this blog.  Here is exactly what I told her:



"I realize that they do cost more than a $15 Walmart apron, but I believe, especially during these hard economic times, that we need to support local, American made products (and I love to support moms, and grandmas like you). It almost always is going to cost a little more to do this, but in the end I think we as a society benefit from it!!  Your aprons are not a necessity item at all, but I feel that every mom and woman deserves to feel beautiful! I love to cook for my family and friends. To be able to put on a beautiful apron when I am cooking and serving the food helps take me back to a simpler time. Plus it is just fun!! :)  I think my readers agree with me that it is worth the extra money to support moms that work from home making their products."
