What could be more iconic than the cheeseburger? A fluffy bun, a well-seared ground steak, a slice of melting cheddar, a few slices of pickle and the essential ketchup-mustard combination... Nothing complicated, just the right ingredients assembled just right. It's the kind of recipe that appeals to everyone, perfect for a quick meal or homemade burger night. Served with crispy fries (or potatoes!) it's a classic that never gets old ;)

Toast bread for 1 to 2 minutes, if desired.
Chop onion finely. Cut pickle into small pieces.
Pan-fry the minced steak for 4 minutes on each side.
* You can use the steak of your choice, fresh or frozen (cooking time will differ).
Place bread base on a plate. Spread the chopped onions over the bread base.
Top with the cooked minced steak, then the slice of cheddar.
Add the American mustard, ketchup and pickle rings.
Close with the top of the bread and it's ready! Enjoy with fries, potatoes or coleslaw ;-)

What type of minced steak should I use?
We've used a ground beef steak. You can use the meat of your choice, or even replace it with a veggie patty (our recipe is made with red kidney beans)! You can use a frozen minced steak for this recipe, but the cooking time will vary, so cook it longer :-).

We've used slices of cheddar, but you can also use any sliced cheese you like.

The legendary cheeseburger sauces are a mixture of ketchup and American mustard. But don't worry, you can substitute one or the other, or even both, for your favorite sauce :-).

Of course, when you think of a cheeseburger, you think of fries. The best will accompany it with potatoes, and the most daring will choose coleslaw. Either way, no one's going to judge your choice of accompaniment, so feel free to try this recipe for sweet potato chips, for example.
