  • Microwave sweet potato chips - Preparation step 1Peel and cut the sweet potato into very thin slices using a mandolin or a food processor.
  • Microwave sweet potato chips - Preparation step 2Put the sweet potato slices in a bowl and add a drizzle of oil, salt and the Provencal herbs (the latter are optional). Stir well with your hands so that all the slices are well coated.
  • Microwave sweet potato chips - Preparation step 3Place the sweet potato slices in a shallow dish, on which we will have put a baking paper. Arrange the sweet potato slices without stacking them on top of each other.
  • Microwave sweet potato chips - Preparation step 4Cook in the microwave at maximum power (800W) for about 5-8 minutes until hard. Open the microwave door from time to time to let the steam escape, which will allow the chips to crisp up nicely.
  • Microwave sweet potato chips - Preparation step 5Finally, remove from the microwave and let them cool completely before serving. Ready!

Observations

How can I vary the flavor of sweet potato chips?
Feel free to customize your sweet potato chips by adding different spices: garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, freshly ground black pepper, curry, ras el hanout, there are many options!

Another option can be to vary the type of oil used to impregnate them. Instead of olive oil, you can use sesame oil or a flavored oil, either basil, truffle....

What if I don't have a microwave?
You can make this healthy snack in the oven. The procedure will be the same but we will simply have to cook, in a preheated oven at 350°F (180ºC), about 15 minutes (the time may vary depending on the oven).

How long can I keep these sweet potato chips?
We recommend eating them as soon as they are done and have cooled. These chips take on moisture easily, and although they are still perfect in taste, they lose their characteristic crunchy effect.

Extra tips:
* Remember to let the chips cool completely before eating them. This step is very important for them to be really crispy.

* Cooking time is estimated. It will depend on the thickness with which you have cut your slices (make sure they are very thin) or the power of your microwave. If you see that your chips need a little more time, do not hesitate to take them out, turn them over and cook them for a few more minutes.

* If you prefer, you can spray the oil on the sweet potato slices with a spray or apply it with a kitchen brush. Remember to do it on both sides.
