TikTok is much more than a simple application where you can scroll for hours. It's a veritable showcase for promoting new concepts or recommending places you've loved, thanks to its unpredictable algorithm.
The developers continue to add new features to the app, and the next one may well interest all Petit Chefs! You'll be able to rate the restaurants where you've eaten recently, directly on the app, and your comments will be visible to users as well as to the restaurant's account.

A successful algorithm

Since its launch, Tiktok has established itself as a global phenomenon. The application, developed by ByteDance, has almost two billion active users. Popular with Generation Z, it is based on short, dynamic videos.

But beyond entertainment, TikTok shapes trends and influences consumer behavior. Thanks to its powerful algorithm, the platform encourages the discovery of new places and experiences. Many restaurants even owe their popularity to a viral video.

An innovative rating system for restaurants

In the U.S., TikTok is testing a feature that allows users to rate restaurants. A breakthrough that could rival TripAdvisor and Yelp. After a visit, users can mention an establishment's official account in a video and assign a 5-star rating.

This interactive approach stands out for its playfulness. In addition to classic reviews of food and ambience, TikTok lets users use emojis to bring their comments to life.

A revolution in the world of online reviews?

Although this feature is still undergoing testing, its potential is immense. TikTok could redefine the recommendation market and become a benchmark for restaurant discovery, especially among younger consumers.

A number of questions remain unanswered: Will it integrate Google Maps or Apple Maps? Will it be deployed worldwide? For the moment, no official announcement has been made. Stay tuned!
