Chocolate truffles at Christmas: A contemporary tradition

Although the tradition of making chocolate truffles is not as old as other typical Christmas desserts, they have gained a prominent place on tables during the holidays. This is due to their versatility and the ease with which they can be prepared, as well as being an excellent gift option.

Chocolate truffles are ideal for those looking for something different, but equally tasty, to complement their Christmas dinner. The combination of chocolate with ingredients such as orange liqueur, rum, coffee or nuts makes these delicacies even more special, providing a touch of refinement that pleases all palates.


Ingredients:

To make about 20 truffles:
  • 7 oz dark chocolate
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream (30% fat)
  • 1 Tbsp butter

Toppings:

  • sprinkles
  • cocoa powder
  • crushed nuts
  • crushed flakes
  • desiccated coconut

  • Melt the chocolate in a water bath.

  • Boil the cream and pour it into the bowl of melted chocolate. Mix well with a whisk.

  • Gradually add the butter and mix until smooth. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  • Use a spoon to scoop out enough to form a ball. Shape it with your hand.

  • Roll one truffle in grated coconut, another in cocoa, pearls and chocolate sprinkles.
