Chocolate black tea cake
This month's challenge from We Should Cocoa is an interesting one. Choclette from 'Chocolate Log' blog has given tea as this month's special ingredient. The link is here
Mm, not an easy one! So I've made a chocolate and black tea cake. I found the recipe on allrecipes uk - this is the link. The original cakesize was too much for two of us, so I halved the recipe, and it still made a good-sized cake. I made a few tweaks - I used orange tea, as I love the flavour of chocolate and orange, and I had some ground hazelnuts so used those instead of chopped ones. I'd run out of caster sugar, and used soft brown sugar. In the blurb about this cake, it says that it's best kept for a day before eating it. We didn't wait that long! The tea gave a very subtle flavour, rather too subtle . Need to use orange zest or maybe add orange juice or essence to the tea to reinforce the orange flavour. Love the texture - the hazelnuts add a slight crunch. I melted some plain chocolate and spread it over the top of the cake. related searches : Chocolate
