Chocolate Cherry Flax Oats

By Eat, Drink and Be Aware (Visit website)

Good Morning and Happy Saturday!

It is a beautiful, hot day here in Austin and I woke up to the most gorgeous orange, pink and purple sunrise this morning. The boys are going to head off to the Parent Junior Golf Tournament soon and it is supposed to be 103 degrees today. I have been a bit of a nag about drinking plenty of water and wearing sunscreen!

We wanted to go and spectate the event but it sounds like it is going to be crazy out there and Zoe might not be up for walking in the heat. So we are going to go check out the Riverplace swim pool and have a fun girls day.

I plan on swimming laps for an hour and then playing with Zoe in the pool. The boys don't actually tee off until 1:00pm (the height of the heat) so we will be on our own for the day. I am actually looking forward to it!

As far as the scale goes, I have been maintaining with a slight fluctuation of 4 oz. up or down and am going to pack a little bag of snacks to take with me to the pool. This seems to be working for me.... now we are going to be driving right by the Jave Dive and I have been dreaming about the Health by Chocolate Smoothie... so could forgo the snacks and just do that instead... we shall see.

I started out my morning with a bowl of Chocolate Cherry Flax Oats. I love this combo!

Chocolate Cherry Flax Oats

1/2 cup of rolled oats
1 cup of water

Cook for 4-5 minutes or until desired consistency.

Top with:

1 tablespoon of Pizzey's Milled Flaxseed
1 tablespoon of Wheat Germ
6 Emerald Dark Chocolate Cocoa Roast Almonds
1 1/2 tablespoons Dried Cherries
Drizzle of Agave Nectar

Enjoy!

So I am going to go slather up on sunscreen and get ready to hit the pool! I am also taking along a few food magazines getting ready for the upcoming Fourth of July Feast. My b-day is on the 6th so we pretty much celebrate it over the 4th of July weekend. The boys want to know what they should make me... so I am going to figure out some healthy eats for that weekend. Yah!

Have a great Saturday and I will check in with you later this evening hopefully with good news about the boys... last year they got 2nd Place... no pressure though!
