Grenadine Frosting

By Kaitlin in the Kitchen (Visit website)

Happy Friday!! I had gotten a gift card to Williams-Sonoma around Christmas time, and I finally took the time yesterday to go. I knew I definitely wanted to get a spatula because my pastel purple one finally gave out on me (I guess that's what you get for $1 at Wal-Mart) but I got a really nice one there, it's red with a nice wooden handle. I was kind of feeling the whole red theme so I got some new measuring cups to match. I almost got this adorable pink apron, but I knew I'd probably just ruin the poor thing. Ever since I saw Aaron McCargo Jr. (last seasons next Food Network star winner) make grenadine frosting on his show last week, I knew I wanted to make it ASAP. I'm a really big fan of grenadine, and I just knew it would probably be stellar in a frosting (how come I never thought of this?!). I already had a big bottle of grenadine on hand for when I make my favorite drink, a Shirley Temple. Which is just sprite with grenadine. If you don't know what grenadine is, it's a red syrup prepared from pomegranate juice. It's so good, give it a try! So with my new kitchen accessories in hand, and grenadine icing on my mind, what else could I do but make that darn frosting! I baked up some double chocolate chip cupcakes from a boxed mix (i'm not ashamed!) and made the frosting. If you're lucky like me then you have some supah cute heart shaped silicone baking cups that you won from Emily over at Emily's Kitchen. Thanks, Emily! I was waiting for Valentine's Day to use these cute little babies! Everything came out great, and extremely adorable, and that's exactly how everything should be for V-Day. Happy (1 day early) Valentine's Day everybody! XOXO

It was raining quite a bit this week and my little cutie loves to watch the rain go pitter-patter. :)
