Parliament Hill
![]() Parliament Hill in summer. Unfortunately, it's winter. It's friggin' cold. Cam whoring day, at least an attempt for one. The weather didn't permit a 200 picture album. But I did manage to snap 30 pretty decent shots. Parliament hill is what Ottawa is like. Old castles, châteaux on hills, cathedrals and old lamp posts. Clement, if you read this, please don't break any of them here. Tax is 14%, it's crazy expensive to restore heritage pieces. We parked nearby, paid 50 cents for 10 minutes of snap snap. Then we got out into the -18 air and went trigger happy. I wish I had a DSLR so I don't have to edit all the colours... The auto balance for the Powershot I have is utterly worthless. If you're going to ask me what's the history of this monument of a once glorious empire, don't. I don't know, and I'm not anywhere near excited about it to go google-ing it. Well, fine, I shall. For those of you who actually bother to read the text. Really, really appreciate that you read. To those who just look at pictures, you probably won't read this: 'You are a mockery to my late nights and efforts that I put in to update you of my life.' Okay, so this is what Google says................. Okay, basically it was a military building from the 18th century to the 19th. It lost it's strategic importance and was converted into a government building. Boring huh. Funny story though. The place was burnt down and badly damaged in the late 19 hundreds, and after the restoration, they decided to keep this gas leaking flame torch. Don't they ever learn? Snap snap snap. And we're done. our 50 cents lasted 10 sufficient minutes to snap some shots. Following that, we went to recharge at this place called Ben Ben Restaurant. Cantonese food. The salted fish fried rice was so good, we da pao back a pack for dinner. The beef hor fun also quite good. I've found a favourite Chinese eatery. Life will be good. Chinatown here in Ottawa isn't much though. It's pathetic compared to Toronto's Spadina. Chinatown in Ottawa is located on Somerset West. See, reminders of home everywhere, how not to get homesick? Just west out of downtown. It's literally one street, not even a region. Looks like visits from Ma and family will be a shower of cheap good blessings from Chinatown back home (Toronto). related searches : Parliament
