Cherry Cobbler (Trader Joes Morello Cherries)

Cherry Cobbler (Trader Joes Morello Cherries)

I came up with this recipe to use those Morello Cherries you get at Trader Joes but any canned cherries in light syrup/juice-- not heavy syrup-- will work fine. I used my tried and true cobbler recipe making a few tweaks to it.
IngredientsFilling 1 jar Trader Joes Morello Cherries or any canned cherries in juice drained
~OR~use 2 cups fresh pitted cherries
1/4 cup sugar
Crust1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
11/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 Tb butter
3/4 cup sugar
Topping1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 cup sugar
plus: 1 cup of water brought to a boil

DirectionsPreheat oven to 350 Filling: Butter an 8x8 square pan and add drained cherries, sprinkle the 1/4 cup sugar over top. Crust : Mix the butter and and 3/4 cup sugar until mixed, add milk and mix, add flour, baking powder, and salt & mix for 1 minute, well combined. Plop and spread over cherries, there may be uncovered spaces and that's fine.
Topping: Sprinkle on corn starch and 1/2 cup sugar. Pour boiling water all over. Bake for 1 hour or until golden brown.
Serving Suggestions:I served this still slightly warm cobbler over cold whipped cream!

How much milk do you need??

CT

The recipe directions say to "add milk and mix" but the ingredients list doesn't include milk.
