Scone heaven

By Emily Eats Clean (Visit website)

My Saturday has been totally fun!!  But dang it’s hot outside…..the car registered 97F today….seesh!  My pasty-white skin required major sunscreen today!

Breakfast:

The fact that this Van’s blueberry waffle totally smelled like poptarts while toasting, my mouth was watering before it even popped-up out of the toaster

Topped with MaraNatha PB and cacao nibs and paired with a pink lady and coffee made for a great breakfast

Today, I headed up to Abington, Virginia for the Highland Festival with my dear friend Jeanne and her son….my adorable Grant.  :) Remember my trip with them to Charleston, South Carolina in March??  Read about it here, here, and here.

Today’s Virginia adventures, included:

Shopping

Farmer’s Market meandering

Snackage

Jeanne and I split this blueberry scone.  It was heavenly.  It wasn’t too sweet, but the blueberries were juicy and bursting with flavor!  Mmm!  :)

I munched on my granola-like mix [Kashi cereal, almonds, dried apple slices, and raisins], but didn’t eat it all thanks to our blueberry scone.

Music

It was sooo hot outside today!!  After we were all about to melt from lots of outdoor shopping and walking, we scouted out a local dive for a late lunch

This little bakery and cafe was advertised at the Farmer’s Market we visisted…..they were the creator of the delicious scone we devoured.  We were excited to give it a try for lunch

I decided a 1/2 salad and 1/2 panini combo including the fresh garden salad with no croutons and the balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side and a veggie panini with white cheese on whole wheat homemade bread

Jeanne and I were both tickled to death with how packed our sandwiches and salads with fresh, obviously locally grown veggies.

Ohh if only there was a local restaurant that used locally grown produce….I’ld eat there all the time!

And last, but not least, I look forward to feasting on my Farmer’s Market purchased baguette over the next few days:

Gnaw.  :D

Okay I’m outta here for more Saturday fun with the hubs!  Night!
