Step 1: Wash and soak all the dals for 1 hour. After 1 hour drain the water completely.
Step 2: Grind the dals coarsely along with ginger, curry leaves, dry red chilli and salt. If needed add little water.
Step 3: Put this mixture into a bowl. Now add onion, green chilli, asafoetida and coriander leaves. Mix well.
Step 4: Heat oil in a kadai. Take small portion of the mixture, make a ball and flatten it with your hands in the shape of vadas.
Step 5: Put this in the medium hot oil and cook till both sides are golden brown colour.
Transfer it into a tissue paper to remove the excess oil.
Step 6: Serve it hot with any sauce or chutney of your choice.
