The Golden Globes Dinner: where everyone?s a winner

How do you please Jennifer Aniston and Mickey Rourke, Clint Eastwood and the cast of Glee?  Factor in the low calorie/low fat/low carb/vegan/vegetarian/dairy-free diets favored by Hollywood celebrities.  Consider the ease of dining mechanics with multiple cameras capturing and broadcasting every bite. This is why Suki Sugiura, executive chef at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, began planning the January 17th Golden Globes dinner last summer.

Sugiura and a kitchen crew of 100 will begin their day at 6 AM to prepare for a banquet for 1,300 plus the six after-parties also held in the hotel.  Every ingredient was sourced within California except for the French champagne coming from long-time Golden Globes participant Moet et Chandon. Long known as the less formal, boozier cousin to the Oscars, each guest is handed a split of bubbly topped with a mini flute as a prelude to the 500 magnums to be poured for the crowd. That goes a long way toward explaining the acceptance speeches.
