Milk jam - dulce de leche
A recipe made with just one ingredient: impossible, you might say?! We prove you wrong with this homemade milk jam :-) Also known as "Dulce de leche", this Latin American cream is perfect for accompanying your crepes, pancakes, toasted bread, or cookies! This is also the case in the famous recipe for Argentine Alfajores :-) Get your pot of hot water and let's start our super easy and 100% tested/approved recipe!
Ingredients
Materials
- 1 pot
- or pressure cooker (see tips)
- or multi-cooker (see tips)
Preparation
Place the can of sweetened condensed milk in a pot. Cover with water and put the lid on. Let it cook for 2 hours, checking that the can remains fully submerged.
Remove the can from the pot and let it rest for 1 hour. Pour the dulce de leche into a sterilized jar.
And there you have it, it's ready!
Observations
Cooking time will be completely different if you use a pot, a pressure cooker, or a multi-cooker (like Cookeo).
Cooking time in a pot: 2 hours
Cooking time in a pressure cooker: 1 hour
Cooking time in a multi-cooker: 25 minutes.
Don't forget to remove the label from the can if there is one.
You can keep your jar for about 1 month (if you can resist! ;-) )
When cooking in a multi-cooker, wrap the can of sweetened condensed milk in a cloth to avoid scratching your pot.
For cooking in a Cookeo, place your can in a cloth in the steam basket, immerse the can in water, and set the cooking time to 25 minutes under pressure.
