Dal palak recipe - spinach with arhar dal

- Wash and soak dal in water for 30 minutes or 45 minutes. Cook the dal in a pressure cooker till 3/4 cooked.
- In the meantime, clean and chop the spinach leaves.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil or ghee and fry the cumin seeds, chopped onion, ginger and garlic till soft in a pan.
- Add the tomatoes and the rest of the masala powders. Fry for 1-2 minutes.
- Add the boiled dal, chopped spinach and little water. Cook over a low fire till the dal and the spinach leaves becomes soft.
- You can squeeze lime juice on the dal just before serving. Lime juice gives a nice tang to this spicy dal recipe.
