Poha Upma / Avil Upma

Poha/Avil upma is a quick fix breakfast dish, it is indeed a healthy recipe and can be made in a jiffy in less than ten minutes.
Poha/Avil - 200gmsBig onion - 1 finely choppedGreen chilly - 1 choppedTurmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoonLemon juice - 1/2 teaspoonSalt - 1/2 teaspoonScrapped coconut - 1 tablespoon
Seasoning Ingredients:
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 teaspoonChanna Dal - 1/4 teaspoonUrud Dal - 1/4 teaspoonDried red chilly - 1 choppedCurry leaves - 10Oil - 1 tablespoon
There are two varieties of beaten rice/poha - thin and thick. For Poha upma we use the thick ones.
Wash Poha and soak for 2 minutes. Drain the water and keep aside.In a kadai, add oil and fry all the seasoning ingredients and fry for 2-3 minutes.Now add onion, green chilly and fry for 3 minutes till onion is cooked well.Now add poha, turmeric powder, salt, coconut, lemon juice and mix well.Close with a lid and cook for 2-3 minutes. Serve Poha Upma with coconut chutney/sambar.Serves 2.
