An Orange Shake

By (Visit website)

The alarm rang at 3:55 am. A tired arm extended from under the warm sheets and turned it off. Fifteen minutes later, a leg dangled from the bed and slowly extended it’s foot to the floor. The other leg followed as did a torso, slowly forming an arc as the head was the last to obtain a vertical position. This tired body made it’s way to the bathroom then decided the cold floor was just too much and made its way back through the dark bedroom and under the warm covers.

In and out of a light sleep for an hour longer, I decided to get up and go for a run with another tired bag of bones, that one covered with soft fur.  Shane, laying there in his crate, on his back, four feet in the air resting on the side of the crate, looked at me in this upside down position.  He wasn’t in an energetic frame of mind either.

Shane and I managed a 3.65 mile jog.  I promised myself tomorrow I would LEAP from the bed, run down the stairs and engage in a vigorous workout of running, weights and more running.  ;) … all good intentions, right?

Breakfast

A wonderful orange protein shake:  1 scoop of VPX, 1 scoop of L-Glutamine, 1 tsp orange zest, 1 slice of orange.   The taste was subtle but essence of orange was refreshing in this base of dscn06292rich vanilla.

The hot cereal was Cream of Rye this morning.

1 TBS dried blueberries
1/3 cup dry, Cream of Rye
1 TBS homemade Peanut butter* see below.
1/2 tsp cinnamon
dscn0631The fruit: 1/2 of an orange.

Homemade Peanut Butter

The other day, Nancy sent me a magazine after seeing the post on Gadgets.

There was a great find: A peanut butter maker

I didn’t have to add extra oil, nor sugar, no preservatives. It’s great! Just dry roasted peanuts.

The texture is smooth, although not as smooth as the mass produced brands. There is a “crunchy” setting if you prefer your PB with crunch.

When the machine was grinding the nuts (this was made on Friday), I simply added a little cinnamon. Next time, more spice should be added because it is not detectable.

Today is a busy day at work so better get with it.  Sue and Sam are on vacation in S.C. with my parents (that’s why young Sammy D stayed with us this past weekend).  I’m on my own.

Have a great day!
