Blue Ribbon Raisin Cookies
Raisin Cookies ( Blue Ribbon Recipes Cookbook, 1964 ) - 1 cup raisins - 1/2 cup water - 1/2 shortening - 1 cup sugar - 2 eggs - 1 tsp. vanilla - 1/2 cup chopped nuts - 2 cups flour - 1 tsp. salt - 1 tsp. baking powder - 1/2 tsp. soda - 1 tsp. cinnamon - 1/8 tsp. nutmeg - 1/8 tsp. allspice * Add raisins to water and boil for 5 minutes. * Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and vanilla. Add cooled raisins and nuts. Sift dry ingredients together; add to raisin mixture and blend well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. * Bake at 400 for 12 to 15 minutes. Yield: 3 dozen. My children never taste raisins before. They know what they are, they would not eat it because the way raisins look. I gave them the raisin cookies without telling them there are raisins in it. They were figuring out if it is chocolate pieces or not. But they ate it without questioning me. related searches : Blue
