Burger N? Fries

By The Fitness Dish (Visit website)

Hey Gals & Guys!! Happy Hump Day to you All ;-)

The comments will close on my Ohgave Agave Nectar at 7:00pm Eastern Time! SO make sure you enter!!

I’m so glad you guys like The Flirty Aprons!! I liked hearing what keeps you motivated in the kitchen! We can all keep each other motivated!

So yesterday I had a genius idea for a dinner….a nice, good ole’ American meal. Burger and French Fries…Vegan style ;-)

First, I started with a yummy tomato salad.. I had gotten some heirlooms, and then one of my fabulous clients gave me some of her organic farmers market finds…that she got at no other place, but a rest stop in Allentown, you gotta love it! I had never heard of these tomatoes before..the larger ones are my heirlooms, and the smaller ones were peach tomatoes, they were actually fuzzy! Yummy too!

I sliced these babies up, went out to the deck for some fresh basil, and voila:

Meanwhile….I preheated the oven for some sweet potato fries :-)

Sweet Potato Fries

Preheat Oven to 450 degres

No need to scrun the potato as you usually would. Wash it, and make sure it’s COMPLETELY dry before baking it or else your fries will be soggy!

Take one medium size, California sweet potato, skinned it, sliced it in half, then lengthwise to make steak-fries

Use your MIsto, or oil sprayer, or just brush the oil on to control how much you use then sprinkle with sea, Celtic or Himalayan  salt

Bake for 15-20 minutes depending on how crispy you want them..I did 15, then let them sit in the oven about 2 more minutes

Raw Vegan Flax Burger

Serves 1

3/4 Cup Almonds

1/4 Cup  Sunflower Seeds

1/4 Cup Ground Flaxseed

1-2 tsps Sesame Seeds

1 TBSP Balsamic Vinegar

1 TBSP Hemp Oil

Pinch or Turmeric

Sea, Celtic or Himalayan Salt, to taste

Fresh Black Pepper, to taste

Place all ingredients in a food processor, I used my mini prep..if you only have a vitamix keep in on a lower sped because you want it to be chunky, not grind up too much! It serves 1, but can be doubled, tripled, etc!

I topped it with sliced heirloom tomato and some of my tasty tahini dressing!

It was DELISH! The burger was the best vegan burger I ever had! It was soooo….meaty! Oh, and the fries…YUM! Who needs regular french fries?? Really!!!

now onto something Important…although I was pretty full, quite satisfied from the All-American dinner I had…I would like to share the AMAZING soft serve I had on Monday and Tuesday night that I did not get a chance to share:

Vanilla Bean Peanut Butter Softserve

1 frozen banana, frozen in chunks

1 TBSP All Natural Peanut Butter

a squirt of Agave

3/4 inch of vanilla bean, split and scraped

Few splashes of almond milk

…I start with literally a splash, then add as needed, just a little bit splash at a time… be careful not to add too much or it will turn into a milkshake! In Vitamix or Food Processor, whiz til its a thick ice cream-like consistency (not too liquidy, so watch it and don’t blend too long)

Ah-mazing :-)

Tomorrow I plan to do my Operation beautiful post &  announce the winner of the giveaway!

Upcoming posts:

One of my amazing readers asked a really great question yesterday, something that I have been planning on posting about. How do you get that lean look on a plant -based diet? We have all heard the argument on how vegans and vegetarians do not get enough protein..and that has been answered, through plants, nuts, legumes, grains. However, all of those foods are high in carbohydrates, and are considered an exchange of carbs, as opposed to an exchange of protein. How do we keep our body fat percent low, while eating a diet high in carbs? Stay tuned to hear what I have to say ;-)

Questions?

Any reader request topics you would like to see in the next couple months? My “big” posts take a little time to write out and prepare, as opposed to my recipe posts and daily activity, quick tips..so even if I can not get to them right away, I would love to hear what keeps you coming back? What do you think makes a blog great, and makes it become popular, where readers return frequently for more? Why do you read blogs, what makes you become a regular???

Also…since we are on the topic of the good ole’ American favorite…what is your favorite “typical” meal from your country –I know I have readers from all over like, Susan, Anne, Angela, Kris, Kelsey, to name a few that I know are over seas or up North ;-) Sorry if I missed anyone….if I did you will let me know!

So your fav typical American, Finnish, Irish, Canadian, Aussie, English, French…wherever you are from meal, that is either unhealthy that you would like to be seen made healthy (us Americans have A LOT), or have a healthy version of, or maybe it’s a healthy dish, and it’s typical and you love it!

Holla atcha gurl ;-)

Have a great day!

xoxo
