Frozen Noms: Amy's Kitchen Brown Rice & Veggies Bowl

By The Coexist Cafe (Visit website)

My work requires me to take pretty fast lunches, so to save money and still get that midday fill-up, I typically resort to frozen meals. There's a lot of crap out there to weed through (I'm sure you've all had your fair share), which means finding something delicious and nutritious out of the freezer is a real treat!

Enter Amy's Kitchen. I've always passed by their (her...?) stuff despite recommendations from other vegetarians, simply because it was just so darn expensive. However, I came across some on clearance the other day at my grocery store, and had to pick some up. On today's menu was their Brown Rice and Vegetables Bowl, which is vegan, gluten-free, mostly organic, and certified kosher.

Oh my god. There's a reason why today's post is titled and tagged "frozen noms"... it certainly was nomable! There was the perfect balance of tahini sauce, brown rice, and vegetables. Ooh, and a surprise: blocks of firm, delicious tofu! I was in frozen food heaven. I wasn't left wanting for anything... except maybe a bigger bowl.

It's also incredibly good for you (save for the sodium content -- those with sodium restrictions might want to back away slowly), as evidenced beyond the jump. Overall, I'm impressed with their product, and will definitely be buying this bowl again.

... yes, even if it's not on clearance. ;)
