Happy Father´s Day! ? Gifting the perfect Argentine wine
Father´s day gifts can be difficult to decide upon. In my case, it?s never very difficult to figure out what I want to get my gourmand dad. My choice for this year has been a 2006 Merlot from Callejon del Crimen, from boutique winery, Finca La Luz. This jammy, slightly sweet and tanic Merlot will surely prove to be a great pairing with hearty pasta dishes as well as red meat and pork due to its oaky undertones. While I decided upon a Merlot, if you are tasting or gifting Argentine wine for the first time, you should begin with a Malbec, our signature grape. This varietal is by far the most exported of Argentine wines. This week, Argentinefoods.com´s Short comments on Argentine Wines comments on the growing demand for Argentine Merlot abroad by quoting Eric Asimov of the New York Times "For the last few years the wine business has been riddled with dire warnings and disastrous portents. In the United States and around the world, producers have struggled with the bad economy and the sluggish market. One slender segment, seemingly alone, has not only weathered the storm but also prospered: Malbec from Argentina". "Argentina Opens the Tap for Malbec", The New York Times by ERIC ASIMOV Check out Argentinewines.com Short comments on Argentine Wines on Argentine wines on their Facebook page. Callejon del Crimen also offers a promising Malbec. Have you tried it? Let us know what you think. Photo courtesy of Finca La Luz Happy Father´s day! related searches : Buenos Aires
