Lady of Leisure

By Meals and Miles (Visit website)

It was so nice not to have any set place to be at any set time today. I could get used to being a lady of leisure.

This afternoon I took my time even getting out the door. With no set in stone plans I realized it was ok to spend an hour and a half watching ‘Taking the Stage’ on MTV (great show by the way). Eventually it was my stomach that made me move from the couch, not the clock. :)

I have been meaning to eat at Bikes Beans & Bordeaux ever since I fell in love with their booth at the Orlando Food and Wine Festival back in October.

The restaurant is an adorable little hole in the type place near Winter Park. It was packed around lunch time on Saturday and I took that as a very good sign.

I loved the cyclist theme of the decorations.

For lunch I ordered the soup and sandwich combo.

Black bean soup with cheddar cheese and red onions

1/2 Tour Mediterranean Sandwich: Hummus, lettuce, tomato, red onion, sprouts, black olives, cucumber, feta cheese and a drizzle of greek dressing on italian bread

This thing was stacked high with yummy filling. Every bite was a delicious mouthful.

The combo came with a bag os Sun Chips as well.

My lunch was fantastic! I ate the whole 1/2 of my sandwich, half the bowl of soup and saved the chips for later.

After my amazing lunch I headed down the street to Track Shack for some new running shoes.

I bought my previous shoes back in June and after carrying me through 16 weeks of marathon training they were well past their prime.

Check out Maddie’s handy work.

I went into Track Shack planning on purchasing the same shoes as I never had any problems with them, but once inside I had the urge to try on everything in the store. I asked the sales person helping me if there was anything similar to the Sauconys that I could try on.

He brought out this lovely pair of Brooks Glycerin 7 and I fell in love.

They felt just as great at my Sauconys and they were on sale. I was sold!

After my $50 gift certificate (Thanks Shelley!) I walked out only having spent $24. Woo hoo!

It had been nearly 7 months and so many miles since I had replaced my running shoes. I’m also afraid to admit it had well over 9 months and so many miles since I last got the oil changed in my car. (Bad Meghann!)

I just get so busy on the weekends and getting my oil changed is always the last thing I want to do. I finally had free time today to take care of it and made it a priority.

I also managed to pamper myself a little in the process. While they were changing my oil I walked across the street to get a pedicure and manicure.

My feet really needed it after months of training roughing them up.

My fingers are always in need of a little pick me up. :)

My family called me while I was waiting and informed they were all heading downtown to see Avatar in 3D. As I have been dying to see that movie since it came out, I happily raced down town to meet them.

Avatar was just as amazing as everyone has been telling me. I was a little skeptical of first, but the whole movie is just filled with so much color, story, and imagination its hard not to fall in love with it. For a close to 3 hour movie, the time flew by. I can’t wait to see it again!

During the movie I cracked into the bag of Sun Chips from lunch and split it with my brother and Dad.

When I got home I made a quick and easy dinner – albeit not a very pretty one.

I microwaved 1/2 a sweet potato and topped it with the filling of a stuffed cabbage from Thursday night and a slice of swiss cheese.

The combination was tasty and easy, just what I needed.

For dessert I halved a chocolate VitaTop and filled it with peppermint ice cream.

My vitatop peppermint ice cream sandwich was a yummy one. :)

I’m pooped. I guess my 10 hours of sleep last night wasn’t enough?

Tomorrow I plan on going on my first post-marathon recovery run. I’m aiming for 3 miles. Wish me luck!
